CSI: Crime Scene Investigation

Yesterday afternoon Shawn discovered this crack on the drivers side of our Honda Accord. Yes, we are victims of a hit and run! Shawn noticed the damage when leaving class, but thought there was no way it could have happened in that parking lot. So we had three places where it could have happened: The gas station, Legends Gym, or Walmart. After Shawn called me about what happened he drove to the gas station where the manager reviewed the security tapes...nothing. We then called the Police Department and our insurance company. The Officer was not going to write us a report because we were not 100% sure if the hit and run took place in Arkansas or Texas (remember we live in a city of two states). We were pretty positive that the accident took place at Walmart (Arkansas) earlier that morning, and had planned to review the security tapes of Walmart and Legends gym. The Officer decided to write us a report because I "was pregnant and didn't need to be running around all over" and because we were pretty sure it happened at Walmart. I also think the officer was impressed with Shawn's investigation thus far (reviewing security video at the gas station, showing our Walmart receipt with the exact time we were at Walmart, etc.) The police report wasn't good enough for us, so Shawn and I decided to do a little further investigation on our own! I snapped a few shots of the car and we headed to Walmart. We began investigating the crime scene...the parking lot. Sure enough we found the piece of our brake light in the parking stall we had been parked in earlier that morning. Shawn began to think that he was an FBI agent at this point! (ha ha)
Walmart would not review the security tapes... the officer that wrote our police report had to. So this is where our investigation adventure ended for the night. We now have to speak with the Police Department and wait for them to review Walmart's security video and hopefully catch the person who did it. They should have left a note...

Baby Update

I am 31 and a half weeks, just finishing up my seventh month! Today we went in for another Doctor visit and were able to see our baby girl with another ultra sound! The bigger they get the harder they are to see on the screen so we were not able to get a really good picture of her... The measurements showed her to weigh 3lbs 7oz! We were told that she will probably be a small baby, but she is healthy! Our baby girl is very active, I can't believe how much she moves around! We still aren't for sure if I will have to have a c-section or not because of my low placenta, my doctor will check again at 35 weeks! I am praying that I wont have to have a c-section...My plan is to do it all natural, no epidural! No pain, no gain!
Other than having to pee every ten minutes, I am feeling great and anxious to hold and kiss our baby girl!

Breaking Dawn

Just wanted to let everyone know about Borders' midnight release party for Stephanie Meyer's Breaking Dawn! Friday, August 1st at 9:30pm-midnight...when the book goes on sale. It's almost here! Shawn agreed to take me there...I may even get him to dress up with me (although there are no characters that are pregnant in the series...so far)! There will be a costume contest, Edward vs. Jacob debate (who will Bella choose?), and a trivia contest! I am pretty pumped about it so I had to spread the news! You can read more about it at borders.com.
For friends that live in Texarkana the release party will be at Borders/Waldenbooks in the Mall!

Shawn's 5K

Go Shawny Pooh! On July 5th Shawn ran a 5k with 3 of our friends! Besides Shawn's normal workout, he didn't really train for it...none of these guys did and they all did awsome! Way to support the Boy Scouts of America!
Shawn and all of his friends placed in their age groups and got metals for doing so! A great and fun little memory!

"BLAMER"

Today Shawn called me a "Blamer" (is that even a word?) because I told him he was the reason why I had not been working on our blog... Shawn is a computer hog! He is always on it for "homework" but when I peak in on him he's surfing the web! I will admit too, that I've been blog slacking because all I want to do is read 'the host' by Stephenie Meyer...and I guess I am a little addicted to TLC's 'A Baby Story' and 'Bringing Baby Home'...according to Shawn. Anyway I wanted to do a recap of the past year to sort of catch everyone up before I started posting our most recent events...we will start with last July...

July 2007: Shawn and I packed up our Honda Accord with everything we could fit, including our kitty, and said goodbye to friends, family, our house across the street from the Logan temple, and Cache Valley. Shawn's new job took us to Texarkana (Texas/Arkansas). We soon realized there is no place like home...but the south would be our new home for the next year!

September 2007: Shawn turns 28 years old! We were starting to adjust to our new life in Texarkana, making wonderful new friends, and loving the southern BBQ and monthly ward pot lucks. Shortly after we moved to Texarkana we received callings in our ward...Shawn was called to be the second councilor in the Elders Courum presidency and I was called to be a primary teacher.

October 2007: I ran my first 5k in the Race for the Cure!! Best feeling was to run through that finish line with hundreds of people cheering!
Shawn begins to get ski fever...

November 2007: Spent Thanksgiving with Friends from Shawn's program and our ward! Best smoked turkey we've ever had!

December 2007: We spend Christmas in California with my family and then get to spend a week or so in Logan with more of my family and Shawn's! Shawn was able to get a few good ski days in.

January 2008: Happy New Year! and what a beautiful start to a new year we had...finally, I was pregnant!

March 2008: Shawn's brother, Casey, returns from his mission...so we get to make another trip to Logan! This would also be the first and last time Grayhound bus services would receive our business... I came back to Texarkana, while Shawn stayed in Logan to ski for a few more days. Because we live 3 hours from the Dallas airport, Shawn was going to take a Grayhound from Dallas to Texarkana when he returned from Logan. Shawn had just arrived at the Dallas airport right before they had canceled most flights in and out becuase of bad weather. He arrived safely at the Grayhound station in Dallas, only to find out they were canceling his bus ride home! He had to take local buses back to the airport to try to find a car to rent...on one of the bus rides to the airport he met a "friend" who essentially robbed my husband of twenty dollars!! What a mess that trip was...and Shawn didn't tell me about his money being stolen until a couple weeks after he got home!

April 2008: Shawn and I celebrated our 2nd year anniversary with a romantic sushi dinner! Yum, my favorite!!

May 2008: It's a girl! The ultra sound and the tech confirm we are having a baby girl! and I feel like I am growing by the day!

June 2008: done with work! I finished up the school year working at a middle school in the attendance office and look forward to spending the summer bare foot and pregnant! After months of waiting we finally find out that Shawn's job will be taking us to Maryland!! We will be moving the first of October! We celebrate my 22nd birthday!

Those are the major events, which brings us up to date!

Baby Atkinson...Coming Soon...

Here are a few ultrasound pictures of our baby girl, taken at 21 and half weeks! This was the ultrasound that we were suppoused to find out if she was a boy or girl...but they couldn't tell for sure, so we had to wait another four weeks to know for sure we were having a girl! Shawn said he knew all a long that it was a girl. When the tech said she thought it looked like a girl (the first time around), Shawn looked a tiny bit disappointed...he was hoping for a boy, but he accepted the fact we were having a girl probably faster than I did! He was actually the first to brake down and buy baby girl outfits from Baby Gap before we knew for sure what was cookin in the oven! She's already got him wrapped around her little fingure...which you can see in the top right photo!
