Carlos Rosario Beach, Culebra. You have to hike to find this beach. We heard that the snorkeling was really good at this beach so we packed up our snorkel gear in our backpacks and headed up the dirt trail. After getting lost and ending up at the wrong beach, we finally found Carlos Rosario. We were the only people on the beach and the snorkeling was amazing! We saw a ton of cool fish and even a stingray. We kept our distance from the stingray (RIP Steve Irwin).
This was literally the backyard of our little hotel. Paradise!
Here we are standing in front of the plane that took us from the mainland to Culebra Island. The flight to Culebra was awesome.
This picture was taken from a small "puddle jumper" plane that we took from Puerto Rico to Culebra. Culebra is a small island about 20-30 miles off the coast of Puerto Rico. The beach in the picture is Flamenco Beach and is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world! Our hotel was literally right on this beach! There are only two small hotels near this beach and they're more like huts than hotels. There aren't really any ritzy places to stay on this island which is really cool because all the high-maintenance, pampered tourists stay away. We almost had the whole beach to ourselves. The water is crystal-clear and the sand is soft, white, powdery sand. We stayed here for 3 days and it was amazing!
This picture was taken at a waterfall en El Yunque Rainforest. We hiked about a mile down a long, winding trail through the rainforest to get to the waterfall. It was so cool.
We spent our first couple of nights in house overlooking part of the rainforest. The owner of the house told us about this cool swimming hole that only the locals knew about. He showed us the trail and we went down for a refreshing swim after a long day of heat and humidity. Luckily we didn't see any snakes!
